oh the places you'll glas(go)...

10.23.2014

in high school, i was walking down a hallway when a first grade girl came up to me. i didn't know her, she didn't know me -but she asked me one thing:"are you that girl who wants to move to scotland?". yeah, i am that girl who wants to move to scotland.

it's no secret that well, i love scotland and i've never even been to the country. that's right- i've never been to scotland but i've decided that it's the best place to go. i mean where else would you go on vacation? most people would say to a tropical and exotic place, but i say you go to country that just might have worse weather than iowa -and that's saying something. why scotland grace?

number one: their weather is crap for the most part, which is very appealing to me. i'd rather walk around in fifty-degree weather and rain than eighty and sunny. despite
living in los angeles last year, i don't like the sun. i liked grey, dark and miserable.
i'm sure that after living in scotland, i might come to appreciate those occasional sunny days.

number two: i cannot tell a lie-the accent. george washington is rumored to have said
something to that effect. the accent man. i want to marry a scotsman and listen to his accent for the rest of my days on earth. i obviously have to go to this country and find my soulmate.

number three: i just want to live there. not a very valid reason. i've never been there, but i've wanted to move there for the past three or four years.
maybe i romanticize scotland, but i doubt it.

i wouldn't just show up in a random city in scotland without a plan (or maybe i would). i'd love to see the highlands and the seaside, but i want to go to glasgow more than any other place. glasgow is the third largest city in the united kingdom. it has a reputation for being a pretty rough city, but it's also a beautiful city. when people tell me they've been to glasgow, i kind of get a little bit jealous. i've wanted to live around glasgow for a couple of years now. in all honesty, i decided that i would live in this scottish city because i was watching food network and there was a chef from glasgow. i fell in love with his accent and decided that i want to marry a glaswegian. of course, i had to research the city i'm going to move to and find my husband. i've fallen in love with a city i've never actually seen.

what would i do in glasgow?

the hunterian museum: everywhere i go, i like to find museums.  i'm one of those
people who loves history. the hunterian is scotland's oldest public museum. it has a
collection of roman scotland artifacts.

house for an art lover: a home designed by scottish architect and designer,
charles rennie mackintosh.

the kelvingrove art gallery and museum: another museum in glasgow that has art
and natural history. the building itself is simply gorgeous.

the kelvingrove art gallery and museum.

architecture: glasgow has beautiful victorian architecture.  i'd love to see it
in person someday.

architecture of glasgow.

whole foods giffnock: my dream is to go to foreign whole foods. don't worry, i'm
laughing with you. i suck.

more architecture in glasgow.

the hanoi bike shop: a vietnamese restaurant in glasgow.

bread meats bread: meat, bread and glasgow. what more could a girl want?

babu bombay street kitchen: a restaurant serving indian street food. i used
to think i hated indian food-until i actually tried it. i'd love to try the
dhal of the day someday.

if you're going to scotland and you're looking for friend to bring along… pick me please. i'm begging you.

~adios mi amigos~
