elementary penguins singing hare krishna: a mixtape

3.11.2015

the sun is shining, i've finished my midterms and i'm reading a lovely book about babies named sunshine, a school bus painted with psychedelic murals and author ken kesey and his cross-country acid tests. what else is there to do on such a springy day? reading 60s counterculture books on a sunny day calls for a one thing: a psychedelic mixtape.

/sike ' delea/ noun: music, writings or art based on the experiences produced by psychedelic drugs. popularized by the beat and hippie cultures of the
1950s and 1960s.

the psychedelic music movement of the 60s and 70s is making a comeback in today's indie rock. drawing inspiration from original psychedelic and beat artists like the beatles, bob dylan and the byrds, bands like temples and tame impala are bringing psychedelia back to modern music.

friendly disclaimer: i do not condone the use of hallucinogenic drugs for writing experience purposes, but i did make you a playlist of my favorite psychedelic songs and artists to listen to on this sunny day. insert sunglasses emoji thing here.
