when it comes to beauty, i'm almost horrifyingly low maintenance because:
a.) i'm allergic to 90% of the world. google mob wives' big ang, that's
me when a dog licks my face.
and
b.) my skills with makeup are minimal at best. a six-year-old gave me a
better makeover than i could give myself.
skincare and makeup is kind of a trial by error process or in my case, trial by rash. i think i'm fairly low maintenance and my beauty skill level is zero, so if i can do it, so can you.
here's my current skin and makeup routine- until i mysteriously develop an allergic reaction.
 |
1. wash: i was my face with acure sensitive skin cleanser from every morning and evening.
2. tone: because my skin is so dry, i use the acure facial toner every other day.
3. moisturize: like said before, i have horribly dry skin. my face is like nevada. every morning and night, i use kiehl's ultra facial cream. i'm not allergic to it ( a miracle! ) and it really helps my dry skin.
i also use the lustro face oil from beauty counter when my skin is extra dry or when i have eczema- yucky but it's just something that goes along with allergies and dry skin.

1. foundation: i rarely wear foundation because i don't really like makeup. when i do wear foundation, i use chanel's vitalumiere aqua. it goes on so well, you only need the tiniest amount and it's incredibly light feeling. of course all the pros come with a catch- it's incredible and incredibly expensive. if i hadn't have had a gift card to a department store, i would have never paid for it.
2. highlighter: my face doesn't seem to lend itself well to contouring and i hate makeup, so the next best thing is highlighting i guess. i use a little bit of the pearl shade illuminator, ck one from calvin klein under my eyes and on my cheek bones. i feel sparkly like a vampire in the sun.
3. eyeliner: i've recently decided that my face looks strange with black liner unless i attempt to do winged liner. emphasis on the word attempt. i don't wear eyeliner everyday, but on the days i do i use eyeko visual eyes in mocha.
4. eyeshadow: i don't like powdered eyeshadows mostly because i drop and break makeup and they sit weird in my dry skin. cream shadows are what works best for me. i use the eyeko me and my shadow shadow liner in taupe.
5. eyebrows: i don't have cara brows, but i try to make them look halfway decent. i like sonia kashuk's clear brow gel to hold your eyebrows down in the wind. the gel is clear, which is nice if you're blonde like me.
6. lips: i have no lips, well i do but my lips are like a centimeter wide, so i avoid lipsticks. instead of lipstick, i like to use a tinted lip balm like maybelline's baby lips.
7. mascara: everyone want 60s doe eye lashes. lashes like twiggy, bardot and birkin. i've been perpetually obsessed with sixties siren's makeup since i was about twelve. the unfortunate thing is i've been allergic to 95% of those nice mascaras meant to give you the false lashed, doe eyed look. i've finally found a mascara that doesn't make my eyes swell shut. alexa chung's eye do mascara by eyeko gives me nice brigitte bardot lashes without having to take a benedryl.
8. eyebrows: backtracking to the eyebrows, before i use the sonia kashuk brow gel, i fill in my eyebrows with the eyeko brow liner pen. it only comes in one color, but it blends well with my darker blonde brow color.
